Fifth Annual Tohunga Tumau: Puanga Matariki Dinner - Saturday 28th June 2025
We are bringing Tohunga Tumau back to Northland for the fifth year! Showcasing the best of modern Maori cuisine, as part of our six-course dinner menu, including wine pairing! We are bringing you a lineup of some All-Star Maori Master Chefs to celebrate all things Northland. The Hangi Master, Rewi Spraggon, Duke Head Chef Tama Salive, and his son Head Chef of Charlottes Kitchen Liam Tito-Salive, MasterChef Winners Karena & Kasey Bird, NZ Chef of the Year Rex Morgan, and TV Chef Joe McLeod.
Join us for incredible culinary experience of fine dining, including entertainment and culture. It will be a night to remember and includes a Canape Reception from 5:00pm, followed bu a 6-course meal, designed and prepared especially for our Puanga Matariki by our fabulous chefs who will introduce each course.
Each course will be matched with a superb Northland or Maori produced wine as well.
We will have awesome entertainment throughout the night, with our local musicans, including our amazing Ngati Soul, who always brings the good tunes, and the atmosphere!

We are so glad that we chose the Duke as our wedding venue. They absolutely exceeded our expectations. The Duke itself is a stunning venue, located at the waterfront of dazzling Russell. The functions staff was incredibly helpful, had attention to detail and accommodated all wishes we had. On the day everything was well organized and worked out fantastically! Our guests were stoked by the food - that was the best cured fish many of us had eaten. The indoors and outdoors set-up was fantastic. The staff was flexible, accommodating, kind and responsive.
